JMI investigate after lightning incidents threaten life and property

In any industry there are professional companies who deliver the goods, and there are those who take their commitments less seriously. Unfortunately spotting the difference can be difficult for those seeking assistance. On a number of occasions our engineers have been required to attend a site where irresponsible or ill-informed companies have installed inefficient systems, which have subsequently been struck by lightning or experienced significant fault currents. At one such site lightning had arced from one side of the structure to another, causing significant damage. Had a person been in the vicinity their injuries could have been fatal. In terms of lightning, fault current and surge protection the risk of fire is as serious a concern as the threat of the damage electricity itself can do.
