Maintenance

If installed correctly, earthing / grounding and lightning protection systems should have a large lifespan. However, accidents happen (particularly if any further construction work has occurred after the installation of the system) and general wearing and weathering effects can reduce the efficiency of a system. It is prudent and recommended to test systems at planned intervals.

Maintenance tests and inspections require a site visit conducted by JMI engineers and the resultant findings are issued to clients in the form of a report.

Earthing/grounding system maintenance and checking

Once an earthing/grounding system installation is complete JMI offer a full earth resistance measurement service to test and verify that all design and specification parameters have been met.

It is advised that earthing/grounding systems are tested at least every five years to establish their continuing efficiency and to detect any potential weaknesses which can lead to unforeseen consequences in the event of an electrical fault. JMI can undertake a full system test on your behalf and advise you on any remedial work which may be required.

Lightning protection system maintenance

Due to the power of lightning, it is advised that lightning protection systems are tested annually to vouchsafe that they are in fit condition to protect a structure and its inhabitants. JMI can undertake a full system test on your behalf and advise you on any remedial work which may be required.
